May 13, 2023

10 am to 5 pm
$225, model fee included

Young artists are highly encouraged to attend this workshop.
In this workshop, students will be capturing the essence and humanity of the live model in the Alla Prima method, or the method of completing an oil portrait sketch “at first attempt.”
Sandra Sanchez is a contemporary portrait artist from Los Angeles County and is currently based in Orange County. Immediately upon graduating high school, she relocated across the country to immerse herself in classical fine art training at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City, and graduated in 2017.
Sandra will begin the day with a live demonstration. Afterwards, individual critiques will be given that emphasize a strong likeness, maintaining a structural drawing, nuanced color mixtures, sensitive values and modeling form using sculptural concepts and lighting. The main idea for this workshop is sculptural rendering with the help of the light source. The course will embrace the student’s personal artistic goals and advance their understanding of the portrait.
More about Sandra...
Sandra is constantly compelled to recreate the humanity of her subjects through the use of sensitive colors, fluid rhythms, a naturalistic drawing and identifying nuanced expressions for a strong visual impact.
