This study was made in my atelier. This charcoal and chalk study is a common type of practice I share with my students. To study the works of our past masters is a form of selecting how we might influence our own style by paying tribute to the greats we admire. It is a common lesson for young artists. I drew this as an example for my young students at Art Students' Atelier in Saratoga, California.
